Coroner's inquest into deadly Westboro bus crash to start April 2

Ontario's coroner's office will hold an inquest this spring into the double-decker bus crash that killed three people and injured dozens of others at Westboro station in Ottawa in 2019.

Alberta’s education minister says he has directed school divisions to make efforts to provide in-person learning options to all students as a support worker strike continues.Around 6,000 workers, from educational assistants to cafeteria staff, have taken to the picket lines in Edmonton, Calgary and Fort McMurray to fight for higher wages.Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides had earlier exempted schools from providing in-person learning to students with complex needs during the strike, but a judge stopped those orders last week.

Manitoba prosecutors have decided, for a second time, to not pursue criminal charges in the case of a construction project that ran well over budget and will soon be the subject of a public inquiry.The Manitoba Prosecution Service has been reviewing the construction of the Winnipeg Police Service headquarters – a converted Canada Post building that ran $79-million over budget when it was completed in 2016.There was an RCMP investigation that involved many people and in 2019 the prosecution service decided to not lay charges, citing an unlikelihood of conviction.
