We have an official date for this year’s federal election! Canadians will head to the polls on Monday, April 28th and determine which party will form the next government. Mark Carney dropped the writ on Sunday morning following a trip to the Governor General’s office, triggering a 5-week election campaign. Of course, the biggest ballot box question probably revolves around America’s biggest leader, as Canada’s next Prime Minister will have a complex trade war to navigate. Kristy Cameron digs deeper with Drew Fagan, a Professor at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto. He also studies Canada-U.S. trade relations. Turning our attention to local news, the Arnprior Humane Society is organizing fundraisers to repair and retrofit its building, repairs that were deemed necessary following a devastating flood. That story is coming up in Hour 1.
Mark Carney has decades of experience reading market tea leaves in buttoned-up office environments full of worsted suits and wealthy wonks.
