The federal Conservatives plan to appoint judges who will take a harder line on sentencing if the party wins the federal election, a shift toward a more ideological approach to the courts.A tough-on-crime ethos is central to Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s election campaign. Early this year, and again on the campaign trail in April, he promised the “biggest crackdown on crime in Canadian history.”
Global News spoke to a mother who fled an abusive relationship with nothing but two suitcases and her child. We are not disclosing her name due to safety reasons.
