Flags at Ottawa City Hall lowered to half-mast in honour of Pope Francis

The flags at Ottawa City Hall will be lowered to half-mast from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, April 26, in honour of His Holiness Pope Francis, who passed away on Monday, April 21.   Pope Francis, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio, served as the 266th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church from March 13, 2013, until his passing on April 21, 2025. His leadership and dedication to peace, compassion and global unity left an indelible impact on millions around the world.   Residents are invited to reflect on his contributions to faith, humanity and global diplomacy during this time of mourning.   Pope Francis’ funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, April 26.
