The next few months are projected to be very painful for Canadian workers, as trade tensions with the United States approach a boiling point. However, the latest outlook from the Conference Board of Canada says that dose of pain could be short-lived. Joining the show to explain further is Cory Renner, the Associate Director of the Conference Board of Canada’s Economic Forecasting Team. Shifting gears to local matters, the Ontario Medical Association and the province’s Ministry of Health are in active negotiations to find a more permanent solution to Emergency Department closures. More specifically, when times are tight and staff is short, they are trying to ensure there is adequate physician coverage to avoid these temporary closures. Here to provide his two cents is Dr. Alan Drummond, an Emergency Doctor based in Perth. Earlier this year, in an effort to spend more time with his family, he announced his pending retirement. Plus, after a Liberal candidate stepped aside from the election race due to past comments, a pair of Conservative candidates have also been shown the exit sign.
