Conservatives choose Andrew Scheer as interim Opposition leader

The Conservative caucus has chosen Andrew Scheer to lead the party in Parliament during the spring session. The party's leader, Pierre Poilievre, lost in the Ontario riding of Carleton in last week's election after representing the area for more than 20 years.
In his first address, the newly elected Robert Francis Prevost, who will now be known as Pope Leo XIV, appeared before a crowd on the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican on Thursday. His speech has been translated to English from Italian. Here’s what he said.
