N.L. town declares state of emergency, issues evacuation order over wildfire

A community in Newfoundland and Labrador has declared a state of emergency and ordered some residents to evacuate because of a wildfire that has already destroyed some homes.The Town of Small Point, Broad Cove, Blackhead, Adam’s Cove says the state of emergency covers the area of Adam’s Cove.Town councillor Susan Rose posted on Facebook that “a few houses are gone” but everyone is safe.
Haul trucks, shovels, pumps and pipes are common sights at Imperial Oil’s vast oil sands operations in northeastern Alberta, but so too are robots and drones, with generative artificial intelligence a newer addition to the technological mix. “We’ve been laser-focused on this digital journey since 2018,” Cheryl Gomez-Smith, the senior executive in charge of Imperial’s production, told a recent investor conference.
