Defence lawyer in Hockey Canada sex assault trial challenges complainant’s testimony about how much alcohol she consumed

On the fifth day of cross-examination in the sexual assault case against five former members of Canada’s 2018 world junior hockey team, defence lawyer Daniel Brown challenged the complainant in the case about the amount of alcohol she consumed on the night of the alleged assault.Court has heard that the complainant, who is known publicly as E.M., consumed about eight drinks at Jack’s bar on June 18 and June 19, 2018, as well as two drinks before arriving at the bar.
In 2019, the Ontario Policing and Community Safety Act was brought into force with the hope that it would pave the way for a reduction in street and gender-based violence, drug overdoses, and improve social support in Ontario municipalities.
