Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. May 8th, 2025

May 8, 2025
For the first time ever, the Catholic Church has turned to an American Cardinal to lead them forward. Robert Prevost, a 69-year-old from Chicago, was visibly emotional as he addressed the Vatican City crowd on Thursday afternoon. He will now be known as Pope Leo XIV, representing 1.4 billion Catholics worldwide. We dig deeper into Pope Leo’s visions and leadership styles with the help of Reid Locklin. He is an Associate Professor of Christianity and Culture at St. Michael's College and the University of Toronto. Shifting gears to today’s most popular modes of transportation, roadways and cars remain the most efficient and reliable roadmap. But which vehicles are becoming the most dangerous to drive? Some advocates are plastering warning labels on a trio of trucks: Dodge Rams, Ford F-150s, and Toyota Tundras. Kristy Cameron explores further with Albert Koehl, an environmental lawyer and the author of ‘Wheeling Through Toronto’. He is also a coordinator of the Coalition To Reduce Auto Size Hazards.
