A new Leger poll, which was conducted for the Association for Canadian Studies, shows that the Liberals and Conservatives are fighting for support from ‘centre voters’. According to the association, the Tories need to convince centrist voters that Liberal leader Mark Carney lacks leadership strength. In this poll, roughly two-thirds of voters that identify as either left or left-of-centre are secured by the Liberals. Kristy Cameron digs deeper with Jack Jedwab, who is one of the brains behind this non-profit independent think tank. Shifting gears to local issues, the federal government is the largest employer in the Ottawa-Gatineau Region, not to mention all across Canada. This week, each federal party is outlining their gameplan for the public service. Do you find the federal government is too bloated these days? CTV’s Josh Pringle joins the party in Hour 1.
Inside a hotel event hall in the centre of the province, 12 Alberta flags hung around the large room. But nowhere to be found was the red and white maple leaf. Around 400 people had gathered at the Red Deer Resort and Casino Conference Centre for a town hall hosted by the newly re-named Republican Party of Alberta to promote the province’s growing independence movement.
