Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew declared a provincial state of emergency on Wednesday as multiple wildfires spread across nearly 200,000 hectares of the province, forcing thousands of people to evacuate their homes, including the 5,000 residents of the northern city of Flin Flon. Residents were instructed on social media to flee south and were urged to be out of the community by midnight.
