Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew says the Canadian government needs to spell out a clear strategy for repairing ties with China’s authoritarian rulers that doesn’t sacrifice Canada’s principles, including respect for human rights.Mr. Kinew, whose province exported nearly $1.6-billion in goods to China in 2024, according to Manitoba government records, is eager to see a trade war between Ottawa and Beijing resolved. China’s government imposed retaliatory tariffs on Canadian agriculture and seafood in March after Ottawa applied steep tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles, steel and aluminum.
Health Canada is advising Canadians to be careful about buying health products on the internet and to ensure the online stores they buy from are safe to purchase from.

A network outage at Toronto Pearson International Airport that wouldn’t allow passengers to check in on Thursday morning has since been resolved.
Due to maintenance work being done on the airport’s network systems on Wednesday night, it “lost the ability to check in passengers and process baggage,” spokesperson Sean Davidson told National Post over the phone on Thursday.
“As soon as the outage was resolved, which was about an hour and 15 minutes, we were able to process passengers through the airport again,” said Davidson.
