The Canada Post strike continues, with a countrywide overtime ban in place and day-to-day operations mostly undisrupted. On Sunday, CUPW met with federal mediators to respond to Canada Post’s latest offer. They have since issued their own response to those proposals, and they hope to hear from Canada Post management in the coming days. Until a resolution is found, local businesses are doing all they can to safeguard themselves. The Village of Chase in British Columbia’s Interior has activated its emergency operations centre as a wildfire burns in the area. The village said in a statement that the nearby Neskonlith Indian Band issued an evacuation order because of the fast-spreading wildfire that was discovered Monday.
