Conservative MPs are calling for a parliamentary investigation into Spanish drugmaker Grifols’s GIFOF use of Canadian-donated blood plasma to make medicines for sale abroad.
The call follows a Globe and Mail investigation that found Canadian Blood Services is selling some blood components to Grifols to manufacture a product called albumin, as part of a complex arrangement between the international pharmaceutical company and the Canadian charity to collect and process blood plasma.

Police say three people were arrested and charged with drug trafficking. Officers seized cocaine, a quantity of suspected LSD and psilocybin pills.

An air passenger rights advocate says that customers shouldn’t be afraid to enforce their own rights as a possible strike between Air Canada and its flight attendants looms ahead of the weekend.
On Wednesday, the airline received notice of a strike from the Air Canada Component of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), which represents 10,000 flight attendants. The airline then issued lockout notice. A strike could happen on Saturday. The two sides cannot come to an agreement over wages and working conditions.
