Is stunt driving becoming a bigger problem in Canada’s Capital? According to an ever-growing crowd of concerned city councillors, such as Barrhaven West councillor David Hill, it has. In his ward, Hill says that street racing has become a re-emerging issue since he first took office in late-2022. Since the first day of 2025, 179 stunt driving charges have been laid by Ottawa Police, spanning across all areas of the city. Investigators with the York Regional Police hold-up unit are appealing for witnesses to help identify suspects involved in a failed home invasion in Vaughan, Ont.
On Aug. 31, at approximately 2:20 a.m., officers were called to the area of Major Mackenzie Drive and Highway 27 for the report of a home invasion in progress.
Police learned three male suspects, wearing dark clothing and face coverings, attempted to force their way into the home by smashing the glass of the front door.
