B.C. offers compensation increase to public service staff in effort to end strike

The British Columbia government has unveiled details of its last offer to striking public service workers, ahead of the expected expansion of job action by the B.C. General Employees’ Union.
The Finance Ministry says the government is proposing a 4.5 per cent compensation increase over two years, made up of both general wage increases and cost-of-living allowances.

Degrassi co-creator Linda Schuyler has filed a lawsuit to halt the Saturday premiere of Degrassi: Whatever It Takes at the Toronto International Film Festival. Schuyler is suing the producers of Degrassi: Whatever It Takes, alleging that “defamatory statements and innuendo” in the film lead viewers to believe she created an “empire” that profited at the expense of the show’s young actors.
