Labour hearings over Amazon warehouse closures to begin in Quebec

A Quebec labour tribunal will begin hearing witnesses in a case against Amazon AMZN-Q stemming from the e-commerce giant’s decision to close its seven warehouses in the province.
The Confédération des syndicats nationaux has filed a complaint alleging the closures were an attempt by Amazon to shut down unionization efforts and avoid obligations under the province’s Labour Code.
Many months into a trade war brought on by tariffs and economic threats brought on by U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration, Canadian consumers have continued to fight back by supporting and promoting a “buy Canadian” movement.
