Alberta teachers’ strike begins, affecting around 700,000 students

Teachers in Alberta went on strike Monday, affecting approximately 700,000 K-12 students and their families.

There were no formal negotiations between the province and the teachers’ union over the weekend, Jason Schilling, president of the Alberta Teachers’ Association, has said.
