Champagne backs Carney for Liberal leader, adding to a growing list of cabinet endorsements

Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne endorsed Mark Carney’s bid to become leader of the Liberal Party on Sunday, adding his name to a growing list of high-profile cabinet ministers backing the former central banker.In an interview that aired on CTV’s Question Period on Sunday, Mr. Champagne said he shared Mr. Carney’s economic vision for the country. He pitched the former governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England as a change candidate, as well as a good economic manager able to navigate a potential trade war with the United States.
