Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Wed. February 12th, 2025

February 12, 2025
The Canada-US trade war could signal an opportunity for Canadian whiskies made in the style of bourbon. Earlier this month, a slew of provinces announced retaliatory measures to Trump’s planned tariffs, counterpunches that involved pulling American-made liquor from Canadian shelves. Here in Ontario, Doug Ford has issued that directive to all LCBO stores. One business that could thrive amidst the chaos is Stratford Fox Run Distillery, which is based right here in Ottawa. Adam Brierly, the distillery’s owner, joins Andrew Pinsent in Hour 1. Meantime, as Ottawa and Gatineau attempt to contain a homelessness crisis, they are also trying to solve a housing dilemma. A new project is hoping to kill two birds with one stone. We dig deeper with Nancy Martineau, who is the Director General of Transitiôn Québec.
