When Yousuf Karsh, the iconic Canadian portrait photographer, married his elegant second wife, Estrellita Karsh, in 1962, he celebrated the event in suitable fashion, with the publication of several dramatic photos.“Here is the portrait of my American wife, Estrellita,” Mr. Karsh wrote in The Globe and Mail, introducing one of the photos, his wife’s long hair tumbling over her bare shoulders as she peers mysteriously at the viewer. “I feel I have captured a beautiful woman of great photographic variety.”
