Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Wed. May 28th, 2025

May 28, 2025
Earlier this month, a joint meeting between two City of Ottawa committees led to the approval of a brand-new Special Events Bylaw and a Highway Events Bylaw. Collectively, they would regulate events in both indoor and outdoor settings, as well as roadways all across the city. And finally, it has introduced a ‘voluntary notification’ system for protest organizers, thereby eliminating the need for a permit. Today, City Council approved both measures. How will it impact future events in Canada’s Capital? Guest host Chris Holski chats with Tara Shannon, a local songwriter and the Executive Director of the Ottawa Festival Network. Shifting gears to those bright blue skies, The Weather Network has unveiled its Summer Forecast for Ottawa and Eastern Ontario. Does it feature more sunshine than rain? We gather the details from meteorologist Michael Carter.
