Ontario legislation to give Education Minister more power over school boards

Ontario plans to expand its oversight of school boards, giving its education minister more power to put police officers in schools, a move critics say ignores the problem of underfunding.Education Minister Paul Calandra introduced legislation on Thursday that would also require universities and colleges to publicly outline “merit-based” admissions policies.
