Something about the Ford government has been grinding Chris Holski’s gears for a hot minute, and it all goes back to Bill 5, a measure that would give the province special powers. And no, this isn’t the ‘Strong Mayors’ trigger. This legislation would suspend provincial and municipal laws for chosen projects in areas that are deemed to have economic importance. It’s a so-called ‘Special Economic Zone’, the first of which could be the resource-rich Ring of Fire. Holski digs deeper in Hour 2. Meantime, Ottawa firefighters are launching this year’s ‘Wake Up’ campaign, which illustrates the importance of working smoke alarms in businesses and residences. CTV’s Josh Marano has more on that. Plus, Ottawa Police is pointing to a drop in reported stolen vehicles this year. Does it point to progress or clever robbers? Joining us to dig through the data, and explain what it all means, is Constable Chris Warren with the OPS’ Organized Auto Theft Unit.
It's clear that defence has become a priority for the Toronto Raptors.
