Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Fri. May 30th, 2025

May 30, 2025
According to statistics provided to CTV Ottawa, thousands of drivers have escaped potential tickets for photo radar and red-light camera infractions. This is due to either hidden, damaged, or missing license plates. City Hall says 15,480 vehicles have been able to avoid punishment within the last 3 months alone. If we circle back to 2024, a total of 71,238 speeders who were caught by cameras were rejected due to unreadable plates. And if you think the problems stop there, another 52,851 vehicles got away with it in 2023. Alta Vista councillor Marty Carr sits on the Ottawa Police Services Board. She joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 2. Shifting gears to next week, Kristy will be making the short-term move to the TV side, as she fills in for CTV Morning Live as a co-host. A platoon of Andrew Pinsent and Chris Holski will be at the helm of the Ottawa Now operations until she comes back. The latter used to work at CTV Morning Live as a newswriter, and delivers some helpful pointers for the pinch-hitting conductor.
