Whistleblowing lawsuit alleges B.C. health authority sought to silence doctor as ER conditions deteriorated

An emergency physician is blowing the whistle on what she says are deteriorating conditions at two hospitals in B.C.'s Fraser Health authority — and alleging her job was threatened after she and other doctors sought to warn patients about a potentially dangerous situation in one emergency room.
There are currently three active cases in the Interior Health region. There have been five so far this year.

A predawn explosion at the entrance of an NDP cabinet minister’s constituency office has sparked a provincial security review of every MLA’s office across British Columbia, Premier David Eby says.RCMP say a device appears to have been deliberately set off around 4:15 a.m. at Infrastructure Minister Bowinn Ma’s North Vancouver office. No one was injured and the office was empty at the time, but the explosion damaged the main door frame without shattering the glass door.

Yukon’s 11th premier was sworn in Friday on the promise to get important work done before the next election that must be called within months. Mike Pemberton told a crowd after the ceremony in Whitehorse that he wants to set out a new framework for mineral legislation in partnership with First Nations, and the work needs to continue “to clean up the mess at Eagle Gold” to protect the environment.
