Parents fighting to save Algonquin College's special needs program

Eric Burgin planned to send his daughter Angie, who has an intellectual disability, to Algonquin College, where its program for adults with developmental disabilities could put her on equal footing with her friends. But his plan hit a snag when in May the school announced it plans to end the program by April 2026.
"For every woman killed, there are thousands more living in fear," said Angela Marie MacDougall, executive director with Battered Women's Support Services.
