In a nutshell, if the two sides can’t reach a trade deal by July 21st, Mark Carney has a series of countermeasures up his sleeve. They are locked, loaded, and ready to fire if the stalemate continues. As for the severity of Canada’s retaliation on American tariffs, that all depends on how next month’s negotiations play out. If a potential deal isn’t in Canada’s best interest, Carney vows to reject it. Is this tough-but-fair approach tough enough? CTV political analyst and former NDP leader Tom Mulcair joins Kristy Cameron to present his opinions. On the lighter side of today’s news cycle, The Royal’s Mental Health Centre has received a $1.9 million grant from Brain Canada. This allows the facility to launch a one-of-a-kind brain imaging platform, a game-changing device that our country has never seen before. What happened to those “short-term” price increases from the pandemic?
From 2021 to 2023, Canadians were told that prices jumped largely because of supply-chain bottlenecks, government spending on income supports and other pandemic-related issues.
If so, shouldn’t those temporary increases disappeared once the pandemic subsided and those glitches were repaired?
While inflation may have since been tamed, Statistics Canada’s monthly inflation figures show that the pandemic-era price hikes survived.
Are consumers getting ripped off by not seeing prices slide back again?...
