A new anti-hate bill would make it a crime, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, to obstruct someone from accessing a place of worship or other sites where Jews, Muslims and other identifiable groups gather, Justice Minister Sean Fraser announced on Friday. The Combatting Hate bill would also criminalize the promotion of hatred against religious or ethnic groups, as well as the LGBTQ community, by publicly displaying terror or hate symbols, including the swastika and symbol of the Nazi SS.
