Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Wed. October 1st, 2025

October 1, 2025

You thought the Wellington Street debate was dead and buried, didn’t you? Not even close, folks! Once again, the feds are interested in acquiring the Downtown staple and closing it off to vehicular traffic. Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe has recited the exact same rhetoric that we’ve heard for many years at City Hall. The City of Ottawa has no plans to remove vehicles from that area, which is right in front of Parliament Hill. They argue it’s an East-West corridor, and a lot of commuters use it every day. CTV’s Josh Pringle joins us with the latest developments. Later in the program, we pick the brain of former Ottawa Police Chief Charles Bordeleau. Meantime, the holiday season has unofficially begun, as we flip the calendar to October. It will be Canadian Thanksgiving in a couple of weeks from now. Before you know it, Christmas is around the corner. And just like the past few years, it is getting tougher and tougher to find an affordable Thanksgiving feast. Sylvain Charlebois joins us from Dalhousie University in Hour 1. Plus, a supervised injection site in the ByWard Market has officially closed. Joining us with her reaction is Rideau-Vanier councillor Stephanie Plante.

His top billing and seven-figure salary ensured luxury treatment for Candy during the shoot. That included the provision of an opulent trailer on location. Such was not the case for O’Hara: despite her status as a reigning queen of...
